Blue Sky: How 3D Printing Can Revolutionize Your Business

The development of 3D printing and other manufacturing tools are making it easier than ever for companies to produce consumer goods. Blue Sky reporter John Carpenter and two of Chicago's modern-manufacturing visionaries, Inventables CEO Zach Kaplan and 3D Printer Experience founder and CEO Julie Friedman Steele, will discuss and demo game-changing tools in manufacturing and talk about how you can apply them now. This event will also give attendees early access to the new 3D Printer Experience retail space. Network with other creative minds before and after the 60-minute program, which will include live demos of new manufacturing processes and ample time for audience questions.

About John Carpenter

John Carpenter is a reporter for Blue Sky Innovation, covering startup ventures, the culture of the new economy and transformative business innovation wherever he finds it. An award-winning journalist, Carpenter has covered a variety of subjects, from business to education to transportation to sports to crime and politics. He has traveled all over the United States and as far away as Ireland and Northern Ireland covering major stories, and has produced numerous investigative and feature-length projects. Julie Friedman Steele is the founder and CEO of The MetaSpace, a sustainable social enterprise responsible for the creation of The 3D Printer Experience in the River North neighborhood of Chicago in 2013. Friedman Steele is a maker, futurist, curator and an autodidactic in neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence and has a background in writing, performing and producing film and theater. She is focused on connecting the content of many art, business and technology silos to help weld the ideas of sustainability, digital manufacturing and natural language processing. The 3D Printer Experience is a storefront and 3D manufacturing center where people can attend events and shows and make something. Friedman Steele is an entrepreneur, employer and mother creating a community for those who want to go further down the rabbit hole to "Get the N.A.K" –  Newly Acquired Knowledge.

Zach Kaplan is the founder and CEO of Inventables. He founded the company in 2002 and bootstrapped it until 2009. A maker his whole life, he is on a mission to ignite digital manufacturing worldwide and provide everyone with ambition with a way to get started.
